Srinagar, October 04 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference has emphasised that the continued imposition of curfew and other restrictions by the occupation authorities was a vindictive action to punish the Kashmiri people for demanding their right to self-determination.

A statement issued following a meeting of the Executive Committee of the APHC in Srinagar, today, said that India must accept the glaring political reality that without resolving the Kashmir dispute, peace and stability could not be established in South Asia. The meeting was chaired by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and attended among others by Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi, Muhammad Abdullah Tari and Mukhtar Ahmed Waza.Later, a delegation of American diplomats met with the members of the APHC Executive Committee and discussed with them the latest situation of the occupied territory. The delegation comprised Kailash Jha and Pushpinder Dhillon. The APHC leaders expressed concern over the death and destruction by Indian troops in Jammu and Kashmir.

Veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, in a statement in Srinagar strongly denounced the firing of Indian troops on innocent civilians at Nagabal in Shopian, yesterday, during a siege and search operation, which resulted in injuries to four people. He also took strong exception to the arrest of a prominent religious scholar, Altaf Hussain Nadvi by Indian police.

An APHC delegation visited Sopore and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family of a martyred youth. Meanwhile, the occupation authorities imposed curfew in Palhalan and Delina areas following clashes between protesters and Indian police. In Washington, the Executive Director of Kashmir Centre, Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai, in a statement said that the Kashmir dispute should be resolved through tripartite talks involving Pakistan, India and the real leadership of the Kashmiri people. He maintained that no solution of the dispute would be lasting unless it was explicitly based on the principles of self-determination – Kmsnews
