RIYADH: Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah on Monday highlighted the security and stability in the Kingdom and the cohesive relationship between Saudis and their leadership.Addressing the weekly Cabinet meeting at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh, King Abdullah also noted Saudi Arabia’s strong relations with other countries based on mutual respect and non-interference in internal affairs.“Saudi Arabia rejects any form of interference in its internal affairs, affecting the interests of the nation and its people as well as its systems and laws that are based on the Qur’an and Sunnah,” the king said.In a statement issued after the meeting, the Cabinet emphasized that such rules and regulations were enacted to safeguard the security and stability of Saudi society and save it from division and sedition.King Abdullah underscored “the peak of loyalty” expressed by the Saudi people to their leadership. “There is no surprise if they did not heed the calls of instigators and spiteful people,” he added.
The king said Saudis rejected the call for demonstrations on Friday because they knew the vicious objectives behind them.Culture and Information Minister Abdul Aziz Khoja said the Cabinet reviewed the regional and international developments and backed a resolution of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries rejecting all forms of foreign intervention in GCC states.The Cabinet expressed its condolences to Japan’s Emperor Akihito and its people over the deaths and destructions caused by a tsunami on Friday.The Cabinet approved the new systems proposed by a ministerial committee for reorganizing drinking water and ice factories in the country. Under the new system, such factories will be licensed and supervised by the Saudi Food and Drug Authority.The Cabinet changed Article 13 of the law for members of the Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution.In accordance with the change, the probation period for an investigating officer in the rank of second lieutenant will be two years. The bureau can remove him from the job if he/she was found unsuitable for job during this period. Those bureau members appointed with a one-year probation period should prove their ability within that period. If he/she fails to do the job they will be removed from service through a royal decree.
On the basis of a proposal made by Finance Minister Ibrahim Al-Assaf, the Cabinet approved the Kingdom’s admission to the International Convention on the Simplification and Harmonization of Customs Procedures (Kyoto Convention).Spelling out other Cabinet decisions, Khoja said the Cabinet authorized the governor of the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation to hold talks with his Finnish counterpart to sign a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field.The Cabinet endorsed a memorandum of understanding signed by King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology with the Indian Space Research Organization on Feb. 28, 2010 for cooperation in peaceful use of space science and technology.The Cabinet appointed Rashid Al-Tuwaijri, as director of legal and international cooperation affairs at the Interior Ministry; Mustafa Kauther, as ambassador; Saad Al-Audan, as director of administrative affairs at the Presidency of the General Staff; Muhammad Al-Hassan, as taxation consultant at the Department of Zakat and Revenue; and Fahd Al-Jarallah as director of the office of head of the Control and Investigation Board – Arabnews
