Commander Resolute Support Mission and United States Forces Afghanistan, General John Nicholson on Monday called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif in his maiden visit to General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi, said the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The two military commanders discussed matters of mutual interest and regional security with particular emphasis on coordination along Pak-Afghan border and reconciliation process in Afghanistan, said the ISPR in its statement. The newly appointed Commander Resolute Support Mission and United States Forces Afghanistan also appreciated successes of operation Zarb-e-Azb and efforts of Pakistan for regional security. Earlier on arrival at the GHQ, Gen Nicholson was presented guard of honor by a smartly turned out contingent of the Pakistan Army, followed by laying of a floral wreath by the visiting dignitary on the martyrs’ monument.
