Shab-e-Barat, the night of reverence, fervour and divine blessings for the Muslims, is being celebrated across the country tonight (Friday) with religious zeal.
The Shab-e-Barat is the night of blessings and worship of the Allah, the eighth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is known as Shab-e-Barat while it is known as Laylatul Bara’ah or Laylatun Nisfe min Sha’ban in the Arab world. On the event of Shab-e-Barat, Muslims gather at mosques to mark Shab-e-Barat or the night of forgiveness.
It is believed that if someone prays to God throughout the night and seeks forgiveness for all the sins he may have committed, he could be forgiven. The entire night of prayer is devoted to asking for forgiveness for the past year and for good fortune in the year to come. -samaa
