Govt, PML-N agree to continue dialogue on reforms agenda

ISLAMABAD: The government and main opposition party Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Tuesday agreed to continue dialogue on national economic reforms agenda.The agreement reached at a meeting between parliamentary committees of the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and PML-N, which was held here to discuss the latter’s 10-point agenda.The PPP side was headed by Senator Mian Raza Rabbani and the PML-N committee was led by Senator Ishaq Dar. Federal Minister for Finance Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh briefed the meeting on the present economic situation in the country Later talking to media, Hafeez Shaikh said that he apprised the meeting that the exports are expected to reach US$ 20 billion and overseas remittances to touch US$ 10 billion during the current financial year He said that efforts were being made to enhance the performance of public sector organizations to making them profit oriented entities.He said that national economy was moving in right direction while the government was making sincere efforts to further strengthen it.Expressing satisfaction over the on-going dialogue, Senator Ishaq Dar said that the government showed seriousness and listened to their point of view with an open heart.He said that the PML-N would continue supporting the government in its efforts for making the country self-reliant.He said that both the parties held the talks in the best interest of the nation.The Committee will meet again on Thursday – APP
