KARACHI: Shipping activity remained active at the Port where three ships carrying containers, furnace oil and edible oil were berthed at Qasim International Containers Terminal, FOTCO Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday, 31st January. Meanwhile six more ships carrying containers, diesel oil and edible oil also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim on same day. Berth occupancy was 80% on Monday at the Port where total nine ships namely, Pago, Kimon-A, Alexi -I, Island Star, Suchada Naree, Trans Ocean, Chemtrans Mabuhay, FB Reginamar and Chem Road Mega were engaged at PQA berths to load/offload containers, rice, cement, wheat, sugar, chemicals, furnace oil and edible oil respectively during last 24 hours.A cargo volume of 90,593 tonnes comprising 67,684 tonnes imports and 22,909 tonnes exports inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 1,047 containers (TEUs) was handled at the Port during last 48 hours.Container ship Pago sailed out to sea while furnace oil ship FB Reginamar and chemical ship Chemtrans Mabuhay are expected to sail later today.Three ships Nedlloyed Hudson, IBN Asakir and Akaki are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and FOTCO Terminal respectively on Tuesday – APP
