MULTAN: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani performed ground breaking of a Rs 690 million cancer treatment facility and opened two grid stations and a fly-over here on Sunday. The grid stations were completed at an overall cost of Rs 1.48 billion while the fly-over at Pul Mauj Darya was made operational at a cost of Rs 411 million. Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan, Senator Malik Salahuddin Dogar, MPA Malik Mohammad Amir Dogar, Malik Ahmad Hussain Dehar, Syed Nazim Hussain Shah besides senior civil and police officers were present.The gorgeous edifice of cancer treatment facility would be built on the premises of Nishtar Hospital hopefully within next two and a half years to provide an invaluable treatment facility to cancer patients of South Punjab right besides the Multan Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy. Initially, a funding of Rs 270.99 million has been approved for this initiative.While unveiling the plaque to open two grid stations, PM Gilani observed that they would improve voltage and power supply to the consumers in Multan and Muzaffargarh districts.The 132KV Wapda town grid station was built at a cost of Rs 300 million and it would benefit 41,600 consumers. The 220KV grid station built at Khanewal road near Sadiqabad mills was completed at a cost of Rs 1,180 million. This grid station scheme was executed by National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC).Pepco Managing Director Rasool Khan Masud said that the two grid stations would help reduce line losses besides improving voltage. The schemes would benefit the whole Mepco region and cause reduction in loadshedding duration – APP
