KARACHI: For the first time in the history of country, about 5,000 visas were issued on a daily basis to Karachiites for the purpose of Umrah by the Consulate of Saudi Arabia since the holy month of Rabi-ul-Awwal.This was stated by the Memon Khidmat Forum Chairman Haji Masood Parekh on Tuesday after a meeting of the forum.He lauded the efforts for the issuance of 5,000 visas daily and thanked the government of Saudi Arabia in this regard.
Parekh informed that the staff of SA Consulate in Karachi was working day and night for the issuance of visas, which, he said was highly commendable. He also appreciated the efforts of the Saudi Arabian ambassador for extending assistance to the flood affectees of Pakistan.The activities of the government of Saudi Arabia for relief and rehabilitation of the flood affectees in Pakistan were still being carried out, he noted. The members of the forum said SA and Pakistan were brotherly countries and Saudi Arabia had not only helped out Pakistan in the need of hour but also extended regular cooperation for bringing development and prosperity – Dailytimes
