ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar on Friday informed the Upper House of the Parliament that a restructuring plan for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) was being finalized aimed at improving its efficiency and making the organization a profit-earning entity.During the question-hour session, the minister responding to a supplementary question said “We are planning restructuring of the whole organization in consultation with professionals. We will definitely come out with the programme within next 15 to 20 days.”The minister said things were moving in the right direction and assured the House that all parliamentarians would appreciate our new restructuring plan.Mukhtar said 2077 appointments had been made in PIA during last three years on regular and contract basis, while the number of daily wagers was 149. Whereas around 989 appointments had been made in Airport Security Force,” he added.To a question, he said the postings in departments of PIA were done as per the approved and sanctioned Human Resource Budget, which was maintained individually for each department and according to the operational requirement. – APP
