Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to allocate Rs. 1413.702 million for sports in next Budget

PESHAWAR: The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has declared Ministry of Sports as productive sector by proposing an allocation of Rs. 1413.702 million as sports budget 2011-12 for the 11 ongoing and seven new schemes, reflecting 100 percent increase in the overall proposed allocation.The overall allocation proposed for the ongoing schemes was Rs. 215.638 million while Rs. 280.000 million allocation grant for the new schemes.In the budget 2009-10, 101 percent increased was reflected, out of  which some mega sports projects were initiated like construction of Lala Aman Boxing Gymnasium, Lala Rafique Sports Arena, acquiring of lands for  the Wali Khan Sports Complex in Charsadda, Volleyball Academy at Pabbi, Volleyball Academy at Lakki Marwat, holding of 31st National Games, renovation of Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium.Talking to APP, Provincial Minister for Sports Syed Aqil  Shah said that due to the performance of the ministry of sports, the Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is very kind for declaring it as productive sector for the very first time.He thanked Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti who recognized the  services of those associated with different sports. He said KP province suffered a lot from militancy and our youth were traumatized due to such situation but the sports activities have given a new vigor and life to everyone.On going projects:The ongoing schemes comprising rehabilitation of Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium Peshawar with allocation of Rs. 19.997 million, reconstruction of  old pavilion at Qayyum Stadium Pesahwar with allocation of Rs. 1.226 million, rehabilitation of Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium Rs. 9.658 million, play ground at Landi Arbab Peshawar Rs. 10.000 million, construction of  play ground at Daud Shah Bannu Rs. 10.387 million, playing ground at  Badbair Peshawar Rs. 5.000 million, provision of Sports Facilities in  Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rs. 63.320 million, Khan Abdul Wali Khan Sports  Complex Rs. 90.000 million, promotion of Sports activities in KP  Rs. 20.000 million, establishment of play ground in KP Rs. 50.000 million, provision of additional facilities at Sports Complex, Younus Stadium, Mardan Rs. 40.000 million.New projects:The proposed allocation of the new schemes include rehabilitation of Mansehra Stadium Rs. 15.000 million, rehabilitation of Tehmas Khan Football Stadium Rs. 15.000 million, rehabilitation and improvement of KP Sports Stadiums Rs. 120.000 million, purchase of Sports equipments 15.000 million, promotion of sports activities in KP phase-II Rs.40.000 million, establishment of sports grounds in KP Rs. 25.000 million and rehabilitation of Hayatabad Sports Complex Rs. 50.000 million. – APP
