QUETTA: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani Sunday said the government is committed to implement Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan package, which was agreed upon by all the political parties in a joint session of the parliament. The Prime Minister was addressing a convention of office bearers and workers of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) at the Chief Minister House here.He said the next meeting of the federal cabinet will be held in Balochistan with the sole agenda of reviewing what pledges were made with the people of the province and how much of the Aghaz-e-Haqooq-Balochistan package has been implemented.Gilani pledged to resolve economic problems of the people of the province and said the federal government will help implement the development programme in Balochistan. He said People’s Party which is a symbol of federation, always promoted the politics of reconciliation, which was vision of Benazir Bhutto. The biggest achievement of the PPP government is restoration of the 1973 constitution, which was distorted by the dictators, he added. He pointed that the people expressed confidence in the policies of PPP by electing its candidates in the bye-elections.He lauded the party workers for not bowing and selling themselves for favours and for keeping ideology of the party alive.“The party is strong because of its workers. You can have difference of opinion with me or with ministers but nobody can have difference of opinion with Benazir Bhutto,” he added. The Minister said Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto laid down their lives for the rights of the people and they made Pakistan a nuclear power. The Prime Minister said 80 percent of the Charter of democracy has been implemented. He was of the view that no single party could take the country out of the present crises and in view of the present situation all political parties will have to work together.“Those who talk of bringing revolution after coming into power will not be able to achieve anything,” he warned.

The Prime Minister assured that all available resources will be used for the development of Balochistan. He said the government put the economy on the right track with a comprehensive strategy despite the effects of global recession. The reason for increase in oil prices is the conditions in the global marketplace, he added. He said he came to Balochistan to improve strategy on law and order and further coordination among the law enforcement agencies.“I will come to Balochistan every month and every week a federal minister will be in the province so the people here should not feel any sense of deprivation.”He said according to a programme on agriculture, more relief will be provided to the farmers of the province.Gilani said 20,000 people will be given jobs in the province and the parliamentarians have been asked to spend 5 percent of the development funds in consultation with their constituents. The Prime Minister asked the workers to strengthen the party and assured that President and he himself will resolve their issues and carry out development projects in their areas. – APP
