ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance and Economic Affairs Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh directed here on Monday that the programme of lowering water in Attaabad lake and re-alignment of different sections of Karakoram Highway (KKH) projects shouldbe completed on time.The minister while presiding over a meeting discussed various financial issues being faced by FWO, NHA and other departments about these projects.The meeting was informed that the cost of lowering of water in Attaabad lake is about Rs.660 million.
Currently Attabad lake and damaged road network of KKH are the major obstacles for the trade between Pakistan and China.The completion of the projects are very important for utilising the trade and energy potential of Gilgit Baltistan.Secretary communication, Director General FWO, Secretary Finance,Secretary Planning, Secretary Economic Affairs and other officials of concerned ministries attending the meeting. – APP
