A policeman was killed in an explosion in the jurisdiction of Mathra police station here on Sunday.

According to the police, the incident took place when an improvised explosive device (IED) planted near Jaba Masjid Choki went off, killing the police driver, identified as Navid, on the spot.

The police have registered case against unknown people and kicked off investigation.
