LAHORE: Army-Coca Cola, Master Paints and Diamond Paints registered victories against their respective rivals on the opening day of the Zong National Polo Championship for Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup at Lahore Polo Club (LPC) Ground here on Wednesday.
In the first contest, Manuel Crespo slammed 5 goals as Army-Coca Cola outplayed Gurad group by 6 goals to 5 in a thrilling contest. Ahmed Ali Tiwana sparkled for the losers with 3 goals. Master Paints downed Hataff-Newage by 9 goals to 8 in the second match. Foreign player Gaston Moore displayed brilliant horsemanship and scored 6 goals to lead to his team to an exciting victory. Hissam Ali Haider was the main star for the losers with 4 goals. Diamond Paints outclassed Colony Sugar by 11 goals to 9 in the last tie of the day. James Harper and Raja Samiullah displayed dazzling polo with 6 and 5 goals respectively for the winners. Matias Vial Perez stole the limelight for the losers with 6 goals.
