LAHORE:Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday announced rupees 3 million each for the families of the three martyred policemen who lost their lives in the Lohari Gate suicide attack.Talking to media men after the funeral prayers at Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh, he said, “All educational expenses of the children of the martyred policemen would also be borne by the Punjab government.”
Shahbaz lauded the bravery as well as vigilance of the Mujahid Force squad policemen who intercepted the terrorist at the first police checkpoint set up to ensure security of the devotees of Data Gunj Bakhsh and the participants of the Chehlum procession. “It was due to stringent security measures of the law enforcement agencies that the routine activities continued at the Data Darbar till 1am”, he responded to media query.Moreover, Inspector General Police (IGP) Punjab Javed Iqbal has said that an investigation team has been constituted to look into the Lohari Gate suicide attack and trace the culprits.Talking to media men after the funeral prayers of the martyred policemen, he said, “The investigation team would be headed by CCPO Aslam Tareen.” The IGP said that no “jehadi outfit” has yet accepted the responsibility for the Lahori Gate suicide attack.
